Too many things going wrong with our home

About a year ago, things started going wrong with my home.

It started when there was a torrential downpour and multiple leaks from the roof.

My husband and I needed to set up numerous pots, pans and buckets to catch the drips. When we contacted a roofing contractor to take a look, he found that the roof had been leaking for quite some time. There was extensive rot, mold and pest infestation. Because of the age of the house and a previous re-roofing project, he said there was no choice but to replace the entire roof. The moisture from the leaking roof led to crumbling walls and ceilings and warped floors. We thought we could at least fix the drywall on our own. However, when we tore down the walls, we discovered a fresh set of concerns. The electrical wires were extremely outdated, unsafe and would never pass modern code. There was also no insulation in the walls. At the same time, our HVAC began struggling to keep the house warm. We had complaints with comfort, air quality and the cost of our monthly energy bills. Then the water heater ruptured and flooded the basement. There was no way we could cover the enormous cost of so many repairs. Living in Colorado Springs, we couldn’t go without a sturdy, reliable and energy efficient roof or heater. We were afraid of the electrical system and knew the plumbing system was on the verge of rebelling. Rather than deal with a realtor, home inspection and appraisal, we decided to reach out to a local cash home buyer. The company is based in Colorado Springs. They are family-owned and have a long-standing history of buying properties in any condition and in any neighborhood.
