When people hear the word “treasure” they no doubt conjure up mental images of gold & jewels. In the real world, I have never seen that kind of treasure, it exists only in motion pictures & on TV. The real world can also yield treasure, however you have to suppose what to look for. I run a small supplier that scours the state for interesting auctions to find low-cost items I can turn around & sell for a profit. To me treasure comes in all shapes & sizes! A few weeks ago I was down in the southern end of the state, a few fourths from home, & I found the biggest treasure yet. It was a shipping basket filled to capacity with construction supplies, tools, & thoUSnds of dollars worth of bar wire, forming wire, & double loop wire ties. I knew from experience that all the rebar rods & ironworker wire was worth several thoUSnd dollars at the bare minimum. I had to act fast, so I haggled with the owner to get the best possible price for the rebar rods & all the bar wire & double loop ties. Since I would be paying currency, I felt I deserved a discount! After that came the hardest section of the transaction – finding a way to transport & transfer several tons worth of rebar & wire ties! I had to rent a semi truck, & spend money for a crew of day laborers, just to get all the tie wire & rebar loaded, & it took all day! But it was a entirely profitable day.
